About

The Delta Project is a contemporary dance and physical theatre collective based in Melbourne. The Delta Project brings together Deaf and hearing artists and collaborators to create and present performances.

The Delta Project was co-founded in 2012 by Deaf dance artists Jo Dunbar and Anna Seymour with support from Arts Access Victoria. Anna Seymour is the current Artistic Director.

The delta is a visual and physical metaphor for Deaf and hearing worlds merging together and The Delta Project builds from this momentum to sense, explore, experience, experiment and create works that explore hidden stories and voices and encourage new dialogues and connections to emerge in dance and performance.

Process is at the heart of The Delta Project: an ongoing inquiry into dance and movement via collaboration. It may not always be dance, but it will always be collaboration.

History of The Delta Project

The Delta Project was instigated in 2012 with Jo Dunbar as Artistic Director. Arts Access Victoria, particularly Fiona Cook were fundamental in championing the fledgling creative entity as they created their first two works Collisions in 2012 and Under My Skin in 2014 & 2016.

From these early beginnings, it has transitioned into an independent dance collective with Anna Seymour as Artistic Director. 

The Delta Project has been supported by; Arts Access Victoria, Deakin University, Creative Victoria, Australia Council for the Arts, City of Melbourne, Next Wave Festival, Dancehouse, Arts House, Melbourne Fringe, Brunswick Mechanics Institute and Chunky Move.
